Guardians of the Galaxy Review

This is coming out a week after I watched the movie. I don't have any excuses for its lateness.

In one sentence: Guardians of the Galaxy is a space opera, much like Star Wars: A New Hope except a lot more kid-friendly and funny.

It's not better than A New Hope by any means. In fact, comparing them in terms of greatness feels weird. The first of the original Star Wars is classic, whereas this is fresh. And it's that freshness that really makes this movie one of the best of the summer.

The freshness comes from how relatable the characters are. Oh wait that was the case in A New Hope too.

The freshness comes from how stunning the visuals of space were. Oh wait that was the case in A New Hope too.

The freshness comes from how much hilarity was packed into the film. Even though there was darkness curling around the edges, the premise was simple and light, even more so than the Avengers.

Ha, that wasn't in A New Hope ... but it was in Avengers....

So I guess Guardians of the Galaxy is A New Hope plus the Avengers with a whole lot of funny.

The end result of this formula is actually incredibly good. You'll enjoy this movie if your 10 and if your 50. The amount of amazing 80's songs in the movie even had my singing in the theater.

This is a movie you go to. Just go to it, tell yourself that your not going to cringe your nose every time Rocket the Raccoon is on screen, take a few breaths and you will enjoy this movie.
