As a tech fan I really love when universities and companies alike come out with amazing new technology and innovated advances for the world to enjoy. But I really really really hate when large powerful companies desire world dominance in their field. This is one reason I hate Apple so much, to me, they have turned into a company that halts innovation. By that I don't mean that because of them tech doesn't get innovated, innovation happens all the time, but instead that because of Apple new tech cannot be appreciated and used in the way it deserves. Apple's ad team brainwashes the world into believing that nothing is better than Apple and therefore the world doesn't look past them to the better tech. And the better revolutionary advances that have the potential to really change the world instead it goes unnoticed so that Apple have the largest profit in the world. This limits the world and proves that here, in the western world money and power is worth more than it should be. Greed is too evident.
Microsoft has recently been crawling into my radar of hatred toward companies that exist for world dominance. The report is that Microsoft will now only allow I.E. (Internet Explorer) browser on there new Windows 8 OS. As a Google fan, and Chrome being one of the reasons I became one, I cannot stand for this. The latest stat I read said that IE is only 3% higher in usage compared to chrome, but with this new guy, that will never happen again. Chrome is one of the first browsers that revolutionized the way a browser worked. It wasn't bulky and it changed the internet. Advances like it can never happen if Win8 is released with this feature. But Windows doesn't care about that, they just want to be the most powerful tech company since IBM and they want to keep that reign. I can't stand for this. Linux meanwhile has become an amazing OS but because of this reign they go unnoticed by the world. Greed is again evident.
As a Google fan I may look bias for using two enemy companies for my examples, so here's one to the tech companies I like (somewhat). For the Android system, there is a long, and often painstaking process down by manufacturers and companies to try to make more money and gain more power. When the newest Android is released, it is sent to the companies, say Samsung, who take it and add all their UI stuff to it. Then from there it is sent to the carriers, lets go with Rogers who take it and put a bunch of their apps and things on it. Which is then sold for a higher price because of profits. But lets look at the actual tech. The software, that goes through two filters that do the opposite of filtering it, making it slower and more bulky. And a bunch of unwanted junk is now on your device. Imagine if instead the UI's were more simple and carries weren't allowed to put extra junk on it. The device itself would be better!!
It hurts me so such a high degree, how bad the significance of the real tech is washed out by money making companies. A parallel argument can be made about the entertainment industry covering up human rights news because of money, greed and self-satisfaction.
What it really comes down to is this. The world is greedy. So greedy that advancements of humanity are thrust aside. If I were to make a product cured cancer, I would give it to the Health organisations for free. We are humans, living and breathing. If you want fame and fortune world hard to earn it by properly fighting competitors. And in this competition, the product is the most important thing, not the profit!!
