Response to "Humans Need Not Apply"

First watch this:

Mind blown?

Deeply saddened?

Distressed or anguished?

Or maybe apathetic?

Great video by CGP Grey. Well explained, the robot revolution is all consuming.

So let's talk about it.

..

Wait a minute, what is there to talk about. We get it, the video is right, we are going to get replaced by our own creation. The only thing to talk about is our survival.

What will happen when we go out of jobs and can't earn enough to keep up with our spending habits?
What will happen when we all go broke because of our spending habits?
And the questions continue.

Our economies live on the strength of the middle class and bots threaten to demolish it. How can the economy grow into it's own death?

And perhaps the most selfish question, what can I do to save myself?

First of all, lets predict timelines:
I'm going to assume the first companies are going to start replacing labour yesteryear, 2013.
And based on that it'll take another few years for the practice to start trending, 2018.
And based on how fast trends take over the world, the first level of bot replacement may be completed by, 2020. Note that this isn't transportation, this would be factory work and a lot of labour jobs.

The technology for road autos is still developing, and since trends only start after technology is practiced, I'd say auto's rule the roads by 2025.

Wait a second, that's 11 years away! So those "white collar jobs" the video talked about would probably be on it's way out by then too.

I wonder how those "professional bots" will fare 11 years from now, they'll probably be ready to take over too. Web M.D. step aside, Bot M.D. is has arrived! And that'll mean a lot less checkups, I guess a bot once, keeps the doctor away better than apples (or bananas (or seedless mangos)). I wonder if how much Doctors' salaries will drop without all those 'Doctor, I think I'm sick but probably not' appointments. Speaking of salaries, if you take out 75% of a lawyers work, will the lawyer still be worth the same? Or what about Engineers, if there are algorithms that can design a better circuit, a better thermodynamic system, a better algorithm, a better building, a better machine than a human, then what?

So a decade. That's how long it'll take for our world to flip up-side down. A decade. That's when we'll see the other side of the apocalypse.

So then forget about all the other questions, what are you doing in the next decade?
