Monsoon Notebook: Google I/O

School is out so I reference Ondaatje's "Running in The Family" only because it is storming outside. We don't get tornado warnings much on the plains, and I never imagined they involved so much rain ...

Folks, Google I/O is upon us, and I think it's fair to say that it's the most anticipated Tech Conference of 2012 so far. I am so excited my chest is paining. I am anticipating several things that I would like to share, just to see if I can get the prediction right and also to document what I am awaiting for in this day and age.

So as my thought process is as of now there are several fronts that Google must (at the very least) attend to; Google TV, Google Chrome Web Browser, ChromeOS, Android Jelly Bean and the Nexus 7, Google Glass, Google's Self-Driving Car, and last and most importantly Android @ Home.

Google TV
The potential of Google TV has been too large for too long, it's time Google capitalizes on it. I'm hoping to see more of a standard device that each manufacture must abide to, this is not Android so open source doesn't apply to the same extent. It also needs to have a more Android feel to it; fast, powerful, and able to do anything.

Chrome and ChromeOS
Google's Chrome platform has come so far, and it's ChromeOS renewed and revitalized. Both these are doing very well and really don't need a major upgrade. But better offline capabilities for ChromeOS apps and Google Apps such as Google Drive and Google Tasks would be huge.

Android and the Nexus 7
Ice Cream Sandwich was such a huge success I have no idea where Jelly Bean will take the platform. I'm hoping to see some of the features from this article on a future Nexus so that this technology can be used and appreciated, though I doubt that any of it will be on the Nexus 7. Maybe in a few months/years.

Google Glass and Self-Driving Car
I think these two technologies are amazing and I want my hands on them as soon as possible, but sadly don't think they will be ready for the public yet. Definitely think they will address it, possibly even a demonstration. I may not live from the excitement if they do.

Android @ Home
Last year it was introduced, but never again seen. The time is now. The official unveiling of Android @ Home, it deserves more hype than it's name/title suggests. This is the reason for Jelly Bean, it's purpose is to integrate all the products above. Google's Voice Assistant will be it's backbone and everything else it's supporting cast (as seen in the Project Glass video). Ladies and Gentlemen, this will be the new face of Google. It'll be like when Pym first created Ultron to fight back Kang the Conquer, like Iron Man's Jarvis, unlike Apple's Siri. It will be ultimate.

One cannot even comprehend how much the possibility of Android @ Home's official unveiling will and is hyping me up.
